Migration

Migration
As the Oglala Lakota Sioux say: “Land has no owner, it belongs to all living creatures”
At the Berlin Conference 1884-1885 together with the European Powers (Belgium, Britain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain (and others)) Africa was redivided in influence spheres.
Before and after there has always been ample migration.
My family comes from India and the Netherlands. My dad is a migrant. My children born in Uganda are of Tanzanian-Ugandan-Indian-Dutch heritage. They are migrants.
In a world that is getting smaller and smaller because of the opportunity to travel and Internet to get to know other parts of the world – migration for many reasons: economical opportunity, war, civil unrest is common.
Yet minds, hearts and borders are closing down.
Looking at demography we will be seeking young people in the Netherlands: for the healthcare system, army and police. So as we clamp down now in 5-10 years we will be begging for young creative able migrants to come our way.
Yet today it seems cool to ignore reality – history will teach us a lesson.
