Some people find silence in a monastery. Others find it beside the sea.
I find it on the road.
The few moments I truly give time to time often happen while driving. The destination is known, the route unfolds, and the mind is free to wander. The vehicle becomes a small vessel of reflection, carrying me from shore to shore, from east to west, from north to south.
The playfield is called the Netherlands.
A country small enough to cross in hours, yet large enough to contain a thousand stories. From tiny hamlets where church bells still mark the rhythm of the day, to bustling metropolises where lives intersect like streams in a river. We see it all. We listen. We observe. We reflect.
On the road, nature passes by in chapters. Fields of green. Waterways glistening beneath shifting clouds. Wind turbines turning patiently. Birds suspended between earth and sky.
The road itself becomes a teacher.
It reminds us that movement and stillness can coexist. That a journey is not merely about arrival, but about paying attention to what unfolds between departure and destination.
The car, safe and familiar, becomes a temporary study, a moving meditation room, a place where thoughts can settle and new ideas can emerge. Public health, forensic medicine, art, stories, family, life. They all find their place somewhere along the motorway.
And so, once again, we travel.
On the road, we see nature.
On the road, we feel the road.
On the road, we meet ourselves.
Namaskar.
